FitSaver alternatives: apps that do more than save the video.

FitSaver saves and organises workout videos and tracks completed workouts and streaks; GLEAMO generates the training program the saved workout gets added to. If you want a free, lightweight place to keep reels, FitSaver is a fair choice. If you want the reel to land in a week that was already written around your equipment, keep reading.

Disclosure: I built GLEAMO. This page names where FitSaver beats it, and GLEAMO is iPhone-only with no free tier — if either of those rules it out for you, the other options below are listed for a reason.

What FitSaver does, in its own terms

FitSaver's App Store subtitle is "Save & Organize Workout Videos," and that is an accurate description of the product. You save a video from Instagram or elsewhere, tag it, and come back to it when you want to train. The listing also says it tracks completed workouts and milestones over time, and it has streak tracking, so it is more than a bookmark folder: it knows which saved workouts you have done and how often.

It is priced the way a utility is priced. There is a free tier, then $3.99 a month, $29.99 a year, or $99.99 for a lifetime licence. It runs on iPhone. On the App Store it had a 5.0-star rating from a small number of reviews when this page was checked, which tells you less about quality than it does about how new the app is. Prices and ratings were checked on October 7, 2026; both change, so verify on the listing before you decide anything on price.

Where FitSaver beats GLEAMO

Three places, and they are not small.

It has a free tier. GLEAMO has a seven-day trial and then costs $6 a month or $35 a year. If you want to keep a handful of saved reels organised and never pay anything, FitSaver does that and GLEAMO does not.

It is cheaper on every paid plan. $29.99 a year against $35, and a lifetime option GLEAMO does not offer. If the only thing you want is a tidy library with a "done" tick, paying more for GLEAMO buys you things you will not use.

It is simpler. FitSaver does one job and does not ask you a questionnaire first. GLEAMO's first run asks about your goals, your equipment and your injuries before it shows you anything, because it needs those answers to write a program. If you already have a program and just want the videos kept, that step is friction, not value.

Where the two apps part ways

The difference is not "organiser versus logger." FitSaver tracks completed workouts, so calling it a plain organiser would be unfair and wrong. The difference is what the saved workout is for.

In FitSaver, the saved video is the unit. You collect them, you do them, you mark them done. The app does not claim to decide which one you should do on Tuesday, or why, or how it fits around the fact that you have a bad shoulder and one pair of dumbbells.

In GLEAMO, the training week is the unit. It writes the week first, from a questionnaire about your goals, the equipment you own (you can photograph your gear and it filters the exercise library to match) and any injuries. Every training day carries a one-line reason it is there. When you paste an Instagram or TikTok workout, or upload the video, GLEAMO identifies each exercise, gives each its own demo clip, assigns sets and reps, and turns it into a session you log, set by set. Run it on its own, or drop it onto a day in that week. The reel does not sit in a library waiting to be chosen.

So the honest question is not which app saves reels better. It is whether you want to be the one deciding what to do with them.

The other alternatives, honestly

Gymdex, if you want the biggest social-video library

Gymdex calls itself the "#1 app to save workouts from Instagram, TikTok & more," and it has the review count to back the claim — several hundred ratings at a high average, updated in 2026. It tracks which muscles you worked on a given day. Like FitSaver, it starts from a workout you already found and does not write a program. If you want the most mature version of the save-and-organise category, Gymdex is probably it. Gymdex alternatives are compared here.

Hevy or Strong, if logging is the whole point

Neither imports reels. Both are better pure loggers than GLEAMO: faster set entry, deeper history, more charts, and in Hevy's case a free tier and an Android version. If you already know what you are doing in the gym and want the best place to write it down, pick one of these and skip the import category entirely.

Fitbod, if you want auto-generated gym workouts without the reels

Fitbod generates workouts around your equipment and recovery and has done so for years with a far larger library. It does not import Instagram workouts. If the generation half is what you want and the reel half is not, Fitbod is the more established answer.

Who should stay on FitSaver

You should, if any of these are true: you train on Android (GLEAMO is iPhone only, with no web or iPad version); you want a free app and will not pay for any fitness software; you already follow a program from a coach or a book and only need the videos kept; or you want to collect a large library across many sources without an app deciding where each one goes. None of those is a knock on you. They are just not the problem GLEAMO is built for.

Who should try GLEAMO instead

You should, if the saved folder is the problem rather than the solution. If you have forty workouts saved and no idea which one to do today. If you train in a garage or a bedroom with specific, limited equipment and every program you find assumes a rack and a cable stack. If something hurts and you want the plan to route around it instead of leaving the substitution to you. And if, when you do paste a reel, you want it to become a session you log, not a card in a list.

The trade-offs are real: iPhone only, no free tier, $35 a year after the trial, and a newer app with a smaller library and fewer reviews than any of the alternatives above. The plan builder page shows what the questionnaire actually asks; the import page shows what happens to a pasted reel.

Questions people ask before switching

Can I bring my FitSaver library into GLEAMO?

Not as a bulk import. You bring workouts into GLEAMO one at a time, by Instagram or TikTok link or by uploading the video. If you have a large library, the practical path is to bring the five or six you actually do and leave the rest.

Does GLEAMO import from TikTok?

Yes. Paste an Instagram or TikTok link, or upload the video itself from your camera roll, and GLEAMO pulls out the exercises either way.

Does GLEAMO track streaks like FitSaver does?

No. GLEAMO logs sets, reps and weight per exercise and carries your last weight forward to the next session. There is no streak counter. If a streak is what keeps you going, FitSaver has one and GLEAMO does not.

What if I do not want a generated program at all?

Then GLEAMO is the wrong app, and FitSaver or Gymdex is the right one. The program is the point of GLEAMO, not an optional extra.

Want the program written, not just the workout saved? Try GLEAMO.

Answer a few questions about your goals, your equipment and your injuries, and GLEAMO writes the week with a one-line reason for every training day. Paste an Instagram or TikTok workout, or upload a video, and it becomes a session you log, on its own or on a day in that week. iPhone only.
